Colourist

Alexandru R Films is looking for an awesome colourist to join our team of filmmakers and provide professional and notable colour correction on our film.

This role is suitable for any professional level, including entry level professionals with the relevant expertise.

 

 

You will be responsible for designing the colour scheme of the film in order to achieve a specific mood and visual style. You will work closely with the film’s Director and Cinematographer to determine what colour palette will best serve the story.

You will mostly be involved in the very final phases of post-production. Experience with DaVinci Resolve is desirable but not required as training can be provided. We are also happy to work with whichever software you find most suitable and useful.

You will have full freedom to explore and experiment with colour, subject to final approval by the Director. We will always value your input and original creativity. Don’t hold back. Let us know what you, as the expert in the room, think the best idea is.

Good communication skills are needed, along with imagination and creative flair to produce the most appropriate colour work. You must have a good understanding of colour and previous experience in the role, although any experience will be considered, not just professional or paid experience.

You will have your own means to edit and manipulate colour, alongside all relevant processing and editing software you may require.

You will be solely responsible for the delivery of your commitments on time and subject to pre-established deadlines.

Location Manager

Alexandru R Films is looking for a resourceful location manager that can help with finding great locations in and around the Greater London area.

This role is suitable for any professional level, including entry level professionals.

 

You will be responsible for scouting locations and negotiating with stakeholders. You may also be required to assess each location for hazards and fill in a risk assessment. Experience with locations in Greater London and surrounding areas would be beneficial.

Previous experience in the role as well as experience with risk assessments is desirable but not essential. Training can be made available.

You will be supported by and work directly with the Director, First Assistant Director and the Cinematographer. You will also benefit from additional support from the Director when it comes to finding locations and filling in risk assessments.

Good communication skills are desirable. Ideally, you will be resourceful and able to come up with creative ways to get around budget restraints.

You will be solely responsible for the delivery of your commitments on time and subject to pre-established deadlines.

Sound Recordist

Alexandru R Films is looking for storytellers passionate about sound. To us, sound capture is equally important to video capture.

This role is suitable for any professional level, including entry level professionals.

 

You will be responsible for recording sound on location. We are looking for a knowledgeable sound technician with enough experience to enable them to capture great audio.

You will be supported by and work directly with the Director, First Assistant Director and the Cinematographer. You will also benefit from the support of a very hands-on team that will be willing to hold the mic for you when you need them to.

Good communication skills are desirable. You may be required to advise and consult with the Sound Designer in order to avoid any production issues down the line.

Ideally, you will have your own kit but equipment hire is usually budgeted for. You will have your own phone and computer, alongside any other tools and software which enables your work.

You will be solely responsible for the delivery of your commitments on time and subject to pre-established deadlines.

Cinematographer

Alexandru R Films is looking for a passionate cinematographer who is dedicated to their craft and wants to tell positive queer stories.

This role is suitable for professionals at any level of their career, with a preference towards experienced cinematographers.

 

 

You will work alongside the Director to establish the feel and look of the film, as well as managing the lighting on set. You will also be the camera operator with the option to discharge this responsibility to our Second Assistant Director.

Your main responsibility will be on location, shooting the film and setting up the set lights. Good communication skills are essential alongside a team player mindset.

Ideally, you will have your own kit but equipment hire is usually budgeted for. You will have your own phone and computer, alongside any other tools and software which enables your work. Access to a small amount of lighting equipment also desirable but not essential.

You will be solely responsible for the delivery of your commitments on time and subject to pre-established deadlines.

Previous experience in the role is essential.

Alexandru R Films is looking for an energetic Second Assistant Director to assist the Director and First Assistant Director in the production process.

This role is suitable for entry level professionals, dedicated and committed to delivery.

 

 

You will work alongside the Director, First AD and a team of talented filmmakers in their own right.

Your main responsibility will be on location, helping the First AD in keeping time and the call sheet in good order. Further responsibilities can be attributed to the role depending on how much you’d like to take on.

Good communication skills are needed as you’ll occasionally be the point of contact for the cast and crew.

You will have your own phone and computer, alongside any other tools and software which enables your work.

You will be solely responsible for the delivery of your commitments on time and subject to pre-established deadlines.

Previous experience in the role is not required. Training provided.

We aim to enter all our productions into as many film festivals as possible. We believe the success of our efforts means getting the film in front of as many people as possible. Having said that, the most important thing for us is the distribution of our films, not any accolades.

Sound Designer

Alexandru R Films is looking for storytellers passionate about sound. To us, sound design is just as important as cinematography or script.

This role is suitable for any professional level, including entry level professionals. 

 

You will be responsible for cutting and editing sound recorded on location, as well as providing any required sounds to accompany on screen action.

You will have full freedom to explore and experiment with sound, subject to final approval by the Director. We will always value your input and original creativity and would not want you to hold back.

Good communication skills are needed, along with imagination and creative flair to produce original sound elements and effects. You must have a good understanding of acoustics, and an expert knowledge of sound recording and digital editing techniques.

You will work closely with the Director and First Assistant Director to create the most appropriate and most engaging storytelling through sound. You will demonstrate an ability to accept direction and a willingness to get the job done. The ability to accept direction and work well with others is important.

You will have your own means to capture, edit and manipulate sound, alongside all relevant processing and editing software you may require. It would be desirable for you to have access to a varied and extensive sound library. We are happy to work with whichever sound library you are most comfortable to work with.

You may be required to advise on location sound recording and on the formatting and quality you require to competently and completely fulfil your commitments.

You will be solely responsible for the delivery of your commitments on time and subject to pre-established deadlines. You will be fully responsible for making sure all sound is compliant with copyright laws in the UK. You are also responsible for making sure all sound effects and compositions used in the mix are available for distribution without restrictions and without copyright infringements.
